An Interview with Dr. Frances Anderson

What led you to the field of obstetrics/gynecology?

Since I was a child, I always knew that I wanted to become a doctor and deliver babies. My passion for obstetrics and gynecology solidified during my clerkship rotation at Downstate Hospital and Kings County Hospital, in Brooklyn. The excitement of running from room to room, cheering on the mother, and delivering the baby made me realize that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. During my rotation at Kings County Hospital I developed a passion for gynecological surgery. I loved being in the operating room. The beauty of obstetrics and gynecology is that not only is it a surgical field, but you also gain lifelong patients. You become part of their family taking care of the grandmother, mother, and daughter.

How many years have you been practicing in the field?

I joined The Woman’s Health Pavilion in 2020. Prior to that, I spent four years training at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, Long Island.

What makes your job rewarding? What do you enjoy about your work?

The smile on my patient’s face and knowing that I made someone’s day better. The field of obstetrics and gynecology is a happy one. I enjoy being surrounded by people with positive energy.

What brought you to the area and to this practice?

I am a New York native and I want to serve the women in my community. I had the privilege of working with the physicians from The Woman’s Health Pavilion at Plainview Hospital and knew immediately that I wanted to be a part of their family.

Do you have special interests or areas of specialty as an ob/gyn?

I am interested in minimally invasive surgery.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I enjoy reading a good book, spending time with my family, painting, and playing piano.
