Interview with Felicia Persaud

What led you to the field of obstetrics/gynecology?

I have had an interest in Woman’s Health for as long as I could remember. However, I gained a passion for OB/GYN when a few close female family members were experiencing difficulty with their own health. I became most passionate about proper preventative care and offering complete education to my patients as if they were members of my own family.

How many years have you been practicing in the field?

I practiced as a registered nurse at various hospitals including Lincoln Hospital, NYU Langone, and LIJ Valley Stream for the last 10 years. I obtained my FNP degree in May,2021 and shortly thereafter began practicing as a women’s health nurse practitioner.

What makes your job rewarding? What do you enjoy about your work?

I feel the most rewarded when I am able to help a woman resolve a problem she has been dealing with for a long period of time. I leave the office knowing I have made a difference in that patient’s quality of life.

What brought you to the area and to this practice?

I moved from Queens to Nassau County while attending college in 2010. When researching woman’s health opportunities, I read multiple excellent reviews of this practice from actual patients and wanted to be a part of this exceptional team.

Do you have special interests or areas of specialty as an ob/gyn?

Throughout the years I have always enjoyed perfecting my craft. I am continually front and center to learn new procedures that are hands-on and that can provide answers or solutions to my patients; I particularly enjoy procedures like IUD insertions and removals, saline sonograms, and colposcopies. My special interest continues to be prevention and treatment of common vaginal infections such as candida that can have a great impact in a woman’s quality of life.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

In my free time I focus family and personal wellness, whether it be a movie night or time at the gym to keep me centered. I also love to bake, although it continues to be a trial-and-error relationship.
