“As an OB-GYN, I get to be a part of major milestones in a woman’s life. Handing a mother her baby for the first time will always have a special place in my heart; it’s especially touching to see a father cry!”

An Interview With Dr. Piboon
What led you to the field of obstetrics/gynecology?
I saw a gynecologist in my early 20s for the first time ever for a misbehaving period. Knowing that I was interested in medicine, my gynecologist took the time to explain what was going on with me, as if I was already a medical student. That visit sparked a love affair with a field that I had never even considered before.
How many years have you been practicing in the field?
I have been with WHP since 2014.
What brought you to the area and The Woman’s Health Pavilion?
I’m originally from the Bronx, so this was a sort of homecoming after residency in Michigan. Joining WHP just felt like the right fit because of the teaching and nurturing that Dr. Saad was willing to undertake with his junior attendings. He didn’t see a lack of experience in something as a disadvantage, but rather as an opportunity for cultivating us into becoming better surgeons.
What makes your job rewarding?
“During my residency, I realized that I am passionate about teaching others.
In my job, I continue to pursue this passion by teaching OB-GYN residents
and educating my patients.”
Do you have special interests or areas of specialty as an OB-GYN?
The beauty of our field is that we have the flexibility to take care of women through every aspect of their lives. At this point, I enjoy obstetrics and gynecology equally, but can see myself focusing more on gynecological surgery in the future.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
When I’m not catching up on sleep, I enjoy spending time outdoors (when it’s warm!) with my husband and puppy. I also enjoy cooking, baking, eating, and as a necessity, working out!
