Dr. Korman is a highly experienced and dedicated Obstetrician and Gynecologist with a strong background in both academic medicine and private practice. Born in New York, NY, and raised on Long Island, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Dr. Korman received his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine in 1985 and completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Boston City Hospital.
A Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Dr. Korman has dedicated his career to advancing women’s health. Prior to entering private practice in 1999, he held several academic and leadership positions, including Assistant Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Medicine at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He also served as the Physician-in-Charge of the Infertility and Menopause clinics at Queens Hospital Center in Jamaica, NY, and as Assistant Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.
Dr. Korman’s leadership extended to his role as Chairman of Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, South Shore, in Far Rockaway, NY, where he served from 2005 to 2009. Since 2010, he has focused on patient safety, with a particular emphasis on maternal health. His commitment to improving care in this area reflects his ongoing dedication to providing the highest standard of care to his patients, with an emphasis on safety, education, and outcomes.
Throughout his career, Dr. Korman has been committed to delivering exceptional, patient-centered care while continually advancing his knowledge and skills in the field of OB/GYN. Dr. Korman joined The Woman’s Health Pavilion in 2024.
Dr. Korman is a laborist and does not have designated office hours for appointments, as he exclusively provides care to our pregnant and postpartum patients in the hospital.

An Interview with Dr. Jerald Korman
What led you to the field of obstetrics/gynecology?
My interest in obstetrics and gynecology grew from a combination of personal experiences and a deep desire to make a positive impact on women’s health. Throughout my education and early career, I became increasingly enamored by the complexity of the female reproductive system and the profound role that Ob/Gyns play in both the medical and emotional well-being of their patients.
The blend of surgery, patient care, and the opportunity to bring new life into the world really spoke to me. The balance between high-tech medical interventions and human connection is something I find uniquely rewarding in this field. In the end, it was my desire to combine a passion for women’s health with a hands-on, patient-centered practice that ultimately led me to Ob/Gyn.
How many years have you been practicing in the field?
I have been a practicing Obstetrician/Gynecologist for over 35 years.
What makes your job rewarding? What do you enjoy about your work?
Bringing new life into the world and doing so in a safe and respectful manner is what I find most rewarding.
What brought you to the area and to this practice?
I was born in New York and raised on Long Island. Most of my family lives in New York, so it was natural for me to settle and work in the area. As for why I chose to Join this practice: The Woman’s Health Pavilion has as its foundation an unwavering commitment to providing comprehensive, personalized care in a supportive and compassionate environment. The practice goes beyond just treating medical conditions it focuses on empowering women through education, preventative care, and open communication. The practice offers a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere where women feel heard and respected.
Do you have special interests or areas of specialty as an ob/gyn?
I have a special interest in Patient Safety, specifically as it relates to Obstetrics and Gynecology. The goal of patient safety is to reduce risks, prevent harm, and ensure the best possible outcomes. This is achieved by continuously improving processes, staying updated on best practices, and fostering a culture of teamwork and communication.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time I enjoy spending time with family, traveling and spending time outdoors, especially bike riding which helps me clear my mind and feel refreshed.
