I am a Board Certified Nurse Midwife who was raised in the Bronx. I earned my undergraduate degree at Gettysburg College, graduated with honors at New York University Rory Meyers College of Nursing, and completed my midwifery degree with honors at Frontier Nursing University.

An Interview with Margaret Johnson
What led you to the field of obstetrics/gynecology?
I knew I wanted to be a midwife since I was 16 years old, when I participated in my first vaginal delivery during an internship in high school. A passion for women’s health and the ability to support families through some of the most meaningful moments of their lives has led me to this field.
How many years have you been practicing in the field?
I worked as a nurse in labor and delivery for almost 10 years. I became a midwife in 2023.
What makes your job rewarding? What do you enjoy about your work?
I am privileged to help women and families bring new humans into this world. This is the most rewarding part about my work. I also like providing therapeutic communication and ensuring overall positive patient satisfaction.
What brought you to the area and to this practice?
I am a native New Yorker. My husband and I settled in Queens to raise our family. We appreciate the sense of community that Queens and Long Island has to offer. I joined the Women’s Health Pavilion because I felt valued for my skills and for my passion for putting patients at the center of their care.
Do you have special interests or areas of specialty as an ob/gyn?
I am interested in low-intervention birth, prenatal education, and fertility.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I enjoy spending time with family, traveling, and focusing on personal wellness. I have traveled to 15 countries so far, my favorite places were Nicaragua and Morocco. My next destination is Brazil!
