Melanie Jackson is a nationally certified nurse practitioner who has been working in women’s health for the past three decades. She earned her Bachelor’s degree at SUNY College at Purchase and her Master’s Degree in Nursing at Pace University. Melanie worked as a nurse practitioner for the Nassau County Health Department for ten years and then worked for the next two decades in a private ob/gyn practice in Garden City and Levittown where she built a devoted following of patients. Melanie joined The Woman’s Health Pavilion in 2016.

Interview with Melanie Jackson
How many years have you been practicing in the field?
I am an “old-timer” in the field having worked as a women’s health nurse practitioner since 1979.
What led you to the field of OB/ GYN?
I enjoy working with women in all phases of the female life cycle, from teens to seniors. I work hard to address their individual needs and concerns, no matter how far-ranging those needs might be.
Do you have special interests or areas of specialty as a OB/GYN provider?
Since I joined WHP in 2016, I have only been seeing GYN patients. I try to make my patients feel comfortable and at ease whether they be 16 or 70 years of age, or anywhere in between.
What makes your job rewarding? What do you enjoy about your work?
Even after working for decades in the field, I have never become bored with the job. Every time I step into an exam room, it is a new experience and I try to make the patient feel comfortable and at ease.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
My greatest pleasure is my two small dogs, Molly and Brigitte. They always greet me with a goofy smile and a wagging tail (and they never ask for a dime, unlike their human counterparts).
