Dr. Reese is originally from California but spent most of her life growing up in Connecticut. She attended the University of Colorado at Boulder where she received a BA in Psychology. Dr. Reese then went on to medical school at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia where she first discovered her love for the field of Ob/Gyn. She completed her residency training at NYP Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where she won the award for Outstanding Resident in Gynecologic Oncology.
Dr. Reese is a laborist and does not have designated office hours for appointments, as she exclusively provides care to our pregnant and postpartum patients in the hospital.

An Interview with Dr. Nicolette Reese
What led you to the field of obstetrics/gynecology?
I originally started medical school thinking I would do emergency medicine or general surgery. When it came time to start my clinical rotations, I actually opted to do Ob/Gyn first to get it out of the way, but soon found myself staying late and coming in early in hopes to get more exposure to the field. I loved the fast-paced environment of the labor floor and the ability to participate in complex surgeries. I ended up comparing all my subsequent rotations to my OB rotation so I knew it was the specialty for me!
How many years have you been practicing in the field?
I graduated residency in 2022, so in total it’s been about 6 years now. Time flies!
What makes your job rewarding? What do you enjoy about your work?
It’s an incredible honor to be part of people’s stories in the way that only an Ob/Gyn can be. Starting a new chapter as a parent can be a daunting journey. Having the training to help keep people and their growing families safe and healthy is truly a humbling, incredible experience. I hope to bring people some peace of mind and create a positive atmosphere no matter how challenging their pregnancy journey might be. Seeing people happy, if even in just some small part from me, makes all the long hours on the job worth it.
What brought you to the area and to this practice?
I’m joining WHP as a laborist which is a journey I am excited to begin. Katz Women’s Hospital is close to the city where my wife works and just a short drive from both of our families. After meeting with the physicians in this practice, I knew it was the perfect place for me to take the next steps in my career.
Do you have special interests or areas of specialty as an ob/gyn?
I enjoy minimally invasive surgery, helping people achieve a vaginal birth after cesarean sections, and performing external cephalic versions for breech fetuses.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Spending time with my wife and our two dogs, trying out new restaurants or going to concerts in the city with family/friends, traveling off the beaten track. There’s nothing more fun than a ski day in beautiful Colorado!
