An Interview with Dr. Killeen

What led you to the field of obstetrics/gynecology?

What led me to obstetrics and gynecology was my passion for providing individualized care that supports each woman’s unique journey. I love the opportunity to build long-term relationships with patients, where they feel heard, validated, and empowered to take an active role in their wellness. Whether through reproductive care, the menopausal transition or minimally invasive robotic surgery, I value the ability to offer personalized care that truly makes a difference in their lives.

How many years have you been practicing in the field?

I’ve been practicing in the field of obstetrics and gynecology for 9 years. I completed my residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, graduating in 2016. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working in various settings around the country, gaining extensive experience in both obstetrics and gynecology, and continuously expanding my knowledge and skills to provide cutting-edge care to my patients.

What makes your job rewarding? What do you enjoy about your work?

What makes my job rewarding is the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with my patients. I find it incredibly fulfilling when patients are active participants in their care. I strive to offer an individualized approach to each person, ensuring they receive not only cutting-edge care but also a personal touch that makes them feel supported at every stage of their wellness journey.

The ability to make a tangible difference in their lives- whether through pregnancy, gynecologic care, or navigating the changes and challenges of menopause- is what I truly enjoy about my work.

What brought you to the area and to this practice?

I consider New York my home, having lived in New York City for 8 years before meeting my husband, who is a Long Island native. Together, we decided to settle on Long Island to raise our family.

I chose to join The Woman’s Health Pavilion for two main reasons. First, the private practice setting allows me to offer personalized, individualized care, which is important to me compared to the one-size-fits-all approach often found in larger healthcare systems. Second, I was drawn to this practice because of its longstanding reputation for providing exceptional women’s healthcare across generations.

Do you have special interests or areas of specialty as an ob/gyn?

I have several areas of special interest in obstetrics and gynecology. I’m particularly passionate about the multidisciplinary treatment of conditions like PMOS, chronic vaginitis, and pelvic pain, working with other specialists to provide comprehensive care. I also focus on perimenopausal and menopausal care, helping women navigate this important stage of life with personalized treatment options. Additionally, I have a strong interest in minimally invasive robotic surgery, which allows me to offer patients cutting-edge, less invasive treatment options for a quicker recovery.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

In my free time, I have a special interest in historical medicine. I’m an avid collector of antique medical textbooks, equipment, and surgical instruments, which allows me to appreciate the roots of medicine and surgery. This interest helps me reflect on their influence on modern-day practices and shapes my holistic approach to women’s healthcare.

I also enjoy watching British dramas, listening to podcasts, and spending quality time with my children.
