Dr. Teresita D. Santiago initially joined The Woman’s Health Pavilion in 2012, returning after a brief hiatus in 2025. She is a Board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist who sees patients in Queens and Long Island at all of our locations. As a woman and a doctor, she enjoys making connections with patients on a personal level to provide them with high-quality, compassionate care at every stage of life.

Education & Training
Dr. Santiago graduated magna cum laude from the University of Puerto Rico with a bachelor’s degree in biology. She subsequently earned her medical degree from Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico, where she served as class president and was recognized with honors in surgery.
Dr. Santiago began her specialty training at Westchester Medical Center and the Metropolitan Hospital Center before moving to Hawaii; there, she completed her specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Hawaii Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children, where she served as chief resident.
Professional Achievements
- Affiliated with the following Northwell Health campuses: Plainview Hospital and Syosset Hospital.
- Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABO+G), which requires a medical degree from a recognized institution, completion of an accredited residency program, a current medical license, and successful completion of rigorous exams given by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), a distinction-only available Board-certified OB/Gyns, which demonstrates a commitment to understanding and using up-to-date medical practices and techniques in the care of women.
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), which includes CPR for infants, children, and adults, and automated external defibrillator (AED) use.
An Interview with Dr. Santiago
What led you to the field of obstetrics/gynecology?
I decided to enter this field because of my interest in women’s health and the profound impact it has on a patient’s life. Early in my medical training, I was drawn to the unique versatility that Obstetrics and Gynecology offers. I can provide preventative care, manage acute medical issues, and perform procedures. I can support women through various stages of life, from helping them manage their menstrual cycles and reproductive health to family planning, menopause, and beyond.
How many years have you been practicing in the field?
I’ve been practicing Obstetrics and Gynecology since graduating from residency in 2012, and my focus has been primarily Gynecology and gynecologic surgery since 2014.
What makes your job rewarding? What do you enjoy about your work?
Having the opportunity to build long-term relationships with my patients has been extremely rewarding. I enjoy serving and educating women so that they have the tools that will help them take control of their lives and health.
What brought you to the area and to this practice?
I am from Puerto Rico and chose to train in New York because of its diversity and its proximity to my culture. I enjoy providing care to people of diverse backgrounds, as it allows me to engage with and learn from a wide range of experiences. I later met my husband, and together, decided to raise our family here.
I chose The Woman’s Health Pavilion because of its patient-centered mission. In medicine, teamwork is essential, and this practice provides the support needed to offer comprehensive and effective care for patients.
Do you have special interests or areas of specialty as an ob/gyn?
My focus is general gynecology and gynecologic surgery, with a special interest in minimally invasive procedures.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I love being with my kids and family. I also like reading or listening to books and watching TV shows. When time allows, I enjoy traveling to Puerto Rico.
