Interview with Victoria Smith

What led you to the field of obstetrics/gynecology?

I have had a passion for women’s health for as long as I can remember.  I love helping women learn how to care for their bodies to feel the best that they can so they can have the highest quality of life.

How many years have you been practicing in the field?

I began practicing as a registered nurse at Huntington Hospital in 2009 for about 8 years. I obtained my MSN in 2016 and shortly thereafter began practicing as a women’s health nurse practitioner.

What makes your job rewarding? What do you enjoy about your work?

I love that my job allows me to make a difference in other women’s lives.  I enjoy spending time speaking with patients, educating them, and being supportive in any way I can.

What brought you to the area and to this practice?

I moved to Nassau County in 2018 while working at the Katz Women’s Hospital at LIJ as a nurse practitioner in the postpartum department.  I met several outstanding providers from WHP, and I was eventually was lucky enough to make the transition into the practice myself. I am beyond honored to say that I am a part of this wonderful team!

Do you have special interests or areas of specialty as an ob/gyn?

I always loved working with my hands, so procedures like IUD insertions appealed to me. I also love steering new moms through their prenatal care.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I love spending quality time with my husband and daughter.  I also enjoy cycling on my Peloton, watching true crime documentaries, and traveling when our schedules permit.
