Our specially trained staff at The Woman’s Health Pavilion makes it quick and easy to look naturally refreshed and stay that way. Our skilled injectors offer BOTOX injections on Long Island as individual treatments or as an add-on to your annual exam or other gynecologic treatment. You can have a treatment on your lunch hour and go right back to your busy day because no downtime is needed.
What is BOTOX?
BOTOX is the brand name of a chemical isolated from bacteria. This chemical is known to relax muscles for several months when injected into the muscle. Several other similar products made from similar chemicals that produce similar effects are now available including Jeuveau® (also called Newtox), Dysport®, and Xeomin®. We use BOTOX and Jeuveau at The Woman’s Health Pavilion.

How does BOTOX work?
BOTOX is a type of neuromodulator that smooths away dynamic wrinkles, which are formed by the repeated contractions of facial muscles. BOTOX temporarily suspends the contractions of these facial muscles allowing the overlying skin to gradually smooth out.
What does BOTOX treat?
Cosmetic concerns we commonly treat with BOTOX include:
- Vertical frown lines between the eyebrows (the 11s)
- Horizontal forehead lines
- Crow’s feet at the outer corners of the eyes
Younger patients may have BOTOX treatments proactively to prevent the formation of these concerns. Typically, women may consider starting BOTOX after age 30 to prevent the development of fine lines and wrinkles.
Can I get BOTOX if I’m pregnant?
While the science is inconclusive about the safety of cosmetic injectables during pregnancy, we believe that it’s better to be safe than sorry when it comes to any elective treatments. At The Woman’s Health Pavilion, we do not offer cosmetic injectables like BOTOX to our patients during any stage of pregnancy or when they are breastfeeding.
Are BOTOX injections painful?
We perform BOTOX injections with a short, fine needle so there is little to no discomfort. Patients typically it feels like a quick pinch or bug bite. If you have concerns about discomfort, we can apply a topical anesthetic before treatment, and an ice pack afterwards.
What should I not do after a BOTOX treatment?
While there is no required downtime, observe following restrictions for best results:
- Do not lie down or lean forward (this means don’t wash your face or practice yoga) for 4 hours after treatment.
- Postpone strenuous activities that increase your heartrate for the first 24 hours after treatment.
- Avoid rubbing the face, which includes getting a facial or other skin treatment, for the first 24 hours.
When will I see results from a BOTOX treatment?
Results from BOTOX appear gradually as the treated areas smooth out. Patient typically start to see results 3 to 5 days with improvement continuing for 10 to 14 days. We encourage patients to see us 2 weeks after injection for a touch-up, if necessary.
How long do BOTOX results last?
Results typically last 3 to 5 months. Patients can maintain their relaxed, youthful look with maintenance treatments when they see lines beginning to form again. There is some evidence that after a few treatments, less frequent maintenance is required.
