An Interview with Dr. Neha Egbert

What led you to the field of obstetrics/gynecology?

I grew up in a family of Physicians – my mother is also an Ob/Gyn and my father and sister are all Pediatricians. Medicine had always been an integral part of my life. I volunteered in a few medically underserved communities growing up and was immediately drawn to women’s health. It attracted me since it is the only medical specialty which gives physicians the opportunity to take care of two lives at the same time – mother and baby.

How many years have you been practicing in the field?

After my 4 busy years of residency, I joined a private practice in Manhattan. Altogether, I have 9 years in the field.

What makes your job rewarding? What do you enjoy about your work?

I like to get to know my patients well and form strong bonds with them. I believe in taking care of all healthcare needs of women – from annual screening, to contraception, to their birthing journey, and finally menopause. I absolutely love when the patients visit me with the children I helped deliver. That makes my day!

What brought you to the area and to this practice?

After living in Manhattan for 5 years, I recently had a baby boy myself, and decided to move closer to my family in Long Island. I joined The Women’s Health Pavilion because I felt it would allow me to provide excellent care to patients while working with a skilled and efficient team in a professional, yet family-like environment. The practice is well-managed and the team exhibits strong work ethic and camaraderie.

Do you have special interests or areas of specialty as an OB/GYN?

As a generalist, I enjoy both aspects of obstetrics and gynecology. My time spent in the office allows me to the time to discuss important aspects of woman’s health with patients, like breast cancer screening, contraception, and planning for pregnancy.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I enjoy spending time with my husband and baby boy. I have a lot of family and friends in Long Island, so we get together as much as we can. We love to travel and explore interesting cuisines. I also jump on my Peloton every chance I get!
